News Clippings from 1947

I haven’t posted for a while, and I have a ton of material these days, thanks to our local historian Bill Poray.

.  Closing the garden down and preparing for winter has taken up most of my time. However- here, are a few clippings that are, in my opinion, rather neat and take you back in time.

I live in Fairport, and my home is at The Oxbow section of The Erie Canal. I fish, have a pontoon boat and like messing in boats. (see www.mud-skipper.com). I'm retired and enjoy every day living here with my two dogs.

  1. Very interesting. I think there were only 3 cottages remaining when I first paddled around there in 2001. It’s hard for me to picture the community that existed in 1947. Would I find pictures or maps at the historical society?
