The culvert gets a hand rail

Due to the bridge being washed out earlier in the year, we’ve made a path around the top of the culvert to enable residents to enjoy the trail. The problem was the ground is very uneven, slippery when wet, and pretty dangerous.

We’re told there will eventually be a new bridge over the stream, but the NYPA has a tremendous amount of more important jobs currently, so we (The Erie Canal Neighbors Association -ECNA- http://www.ecns.us) decided to erect a rail around the path.

Over the next few days, we’ll add another rail, and cut the steps to make them safer.

I live in Fairport, and my home is at The Oxbow section of The Erie Canal. I fish, have a pontoon boat and like messing in boats. (see www.mud-skipper.com). I'm retired and enjoy every day living here with my two dogs.

  1. Mike, wow..Looks great. I’m trying to get the Oxbow Foot Bridge moved up on the list. Maybe 6’x30′ will work. We may have to move into final place when the creek bed gets frozen.. but we can get it dropped at the end of the Olde Oxbow Rd.

Not wide enough for a car, but a tractor/bush hog will go. Old High bridge from Western Monroe County, similar to lift bridge metal deck.
