What a Whopper!

We, (my wife and dogs), were taking our usual morning stroll down the Oxbow, when we noticed a boy fishing. It looked like he got caught up on a log or something, because his rod was really bent over.

He called out to us for help, but what he wanted was for me to take a photo of the fish he’d caught. I obliged and here are the results!

My dogs were VERY impressed, as was I.

He’s not going to forget this fish for a while! I was quite jealous!

I live in Fairport, and my home is at The Oxbow section of The Erie Canal. I fish, have a pontoon boat and like messing in boats. (see www.mud-skipper.com). I'm retired and enjoy every day living here with my wife Carol and our two dogs.

  1. Wow, I hear the splashing all the time but didn’t realize how large they get. I hear they give a great fight. Great job reeling this large carp in.

    1. Apparently, not so. They were introduced to America to feed the growing population. There are many recipes around for carp. I purchased one from Asian Food Market and it was delicious. I’d prefer to fillet my own, because they left all the bones in.
